HILARY’S

STORY

Hilary grew up in the rural beauty of southern Ontario. Childhood summers were spent outdoors playing in the woods, picking wild flowers, doing photoshoots and exploring nature.

At the age of 11 she started to dream of fashion and the wedding industry. This passion led her to study Fashion Design in England at the Istituto Marangoni. She later expanded her schooling at George Brown college for Fashion Business in Toronto.

Shortly after, Hilary got offered a position with Emirates Airlines where she was given the opportunity to live in Dubai and travel the world, which brought her to over 40 different countries. One major thing she noticed amongst all the countries and cultures was that they all celebrated with flowers.

When she arrived back home in Canada, 2 years after she had left, Hilary enrolled in the Toronto Flower School where she was taught by one of the premier florists in the GTA, Mary Currie. Hilary’s design background allowed her to quickly pick up the skills of colour and flower placement in her arrangements.

Given her background in design, she not only visualizes the florals but considers the overall ambiance of the venue, the attire, the colour scheme and themes to create something truly unique that will highlight the client’s vision. Whatever your occasion may be, Hilary takes the time to get to know each of her clients, creating a personalized result. She welcomes personal requests, quirky or sentimental, and is always down to try something new!

Working within a lens allows for necessary refinement while still creating something original and organic, that flows cohesively. There’s something in creating to be an expression or extension of someone – a couple, an idea, a feeling.

“ My husband and I envisioned a secret garden to which we could invite our closest friends and family to share our special moment with. The florals were a key part of this vision and when we arrived at Harding Waterfront Estate on our wedding day, we were blown away with how beautifully Hilary executed our dream. I truly felt like I was in my own magical private garden. During the process, Hilary was so easy to work with. I had so much fun during our phone calls discussing the plans, and I felt confident that Hilary would execute our dream perfectly. Towards the end of the planning process, I came to her with an idea to create an unconventional seating chart by writing guests names on terracotta pots and having them filled with herbs and succulents. I had no idea how to make this idea a reality and Hilary guided me through the entire process. She recommended an amazing calligraphist and even went to the flower nursery to pick up all the plants and soil I would need to plant the pots and delivered them to my house! She definitely went above and beyond my expectations. I also didn’t have a day of coordinator at my wedding so Hilary guided me through the entire ceremony. She was truly incredible to work with and I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for a florist for their events. “
